Senior broadcaster Chen Xiaobao accused of ＂inarticulateness＂ by radio station management

Chen Xiaobao, a veteran broadcaster in Hong Kong known for promoting popular artists such as BEYOND, Faye Wong, and bringing Hins Cheung into the Hong Kong music scene, has recently been accused of being "inarticulate" by the management of a radio station. As a result, the radio program he has been hosting for several years has been terminated. Chen Xiaobao expressed his confusion regarding the station's decision and considers the accusation of being "inarticulate" as an insult and baseless claim.

Chen Xiaobao, a seasoned broadcaster with over 40 years of experience in the industry, co-hosted the program "Xiaobao and Wendi" on Radio Television Hong Kong's (RTHK) Radio 1. However, they have been notified that the program will be discontinued at the end of May. On May 10, Chen Xiaobao revealed on social media that "Xiaobao and Wendi" would be ending but did not disclose the reason. He suggested that fans inquire about the reason with RTHK or write a complaint letter to the Director of Broadcasting.

However, Chen Xiaobao recently told the media that one of the reasons for the termination of "Xiaobao and Wendi" was that RTHK management accused him of being inarticulate. Interestingly, his other program, "Playing Good Music," remains unaffected. He expressed his confusion about the station's decision and regarded the accusation of being inarticulate as an insult and unsubstantiated.

Recently, Chen Xiaobao once again wrote on social media, "Xiaobao and Wendi reluctantly 'ends.' Thank you all for your support over the years." He further stated, "I didn't expect RTHK to make such a decision, immediately canceling 'Xiaobao and Wendi' and 'Playing Good Music.' They not only ignored the complaints and voices of all of you but also resorted to such measures against me. What happened to serving the public and listening with an open mind... the power of the authorities is as fierce as a tiger! I can only remain silent and sincerely thank everyone for their support."

Chen Xiaobao responded to the media that RTHK terminated their cooperation due to his encouraging listeners to make complaints, which violated the contract terms.As a result, both "Xiaobao and Wendi" and "Playing Good Music" were immediately taken off the air. Chen Xiaobao said, "I don't mind not hosting programs; I just spoke up because the audience had no programs to listen to. RTHK is supposed to serve the Hong Kong public, not a private organization. With numerous complaints and feedback from listeners, does the Director of Broadcasting need to be accountable? Now they are using their authority against me, a person in their sixties! If they can prove that I am inarticulate, then I will see a doctor!" Many netizens expressed their support for Chen Xiaobao and suggested that he continue "Xiaobao and Wendi" as an online program.

However, some insiders revealed that there have been ongoing program changes, and some popular programs have become targets for "silencing." For example, there may be a significant reduction in sports programs on the eve of the Olympics, which is puzzling. Some related people also claimed that these actions aim to remove individuals who do not align with the current Director's views.
