Guo Ronghua was born in Chengdu, and graduated from Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts. She is now a national-level artist; a member of China Artists Association; a member of Sichuan Artists Association; director of the Women Painters Committee of Sichuan Chinese Painting Society; president of the Women Artists Committee of Beijing Bashu Painting and Calligraphy Art Institute; deputy secretary-general of the Sculpture Society of Chengdu Artists Association; a painter employed by Sichuan Contemporary Oil Painting Institute; and an art researcher of China Oriental Culture Research Association.
She thought that: As a descendant of ancient Chinese Nation Shu, it is the artist's duty to carry on and promote Chinese culture. Her series of works on the ancient ancestors of Sanxingdui has revealed the ancestors' spirit of reverence for the harmony of nature and society with philosophical reflections. She has incorporated her unique perception of life into her works with the expression of contemporary art.Her works immediately caught the eye of the painting world when they were released. It is Guo's consistent creative style to be diligent in thinking and practicing, and it is her constant sentiment to work hard in the paradise of art.Her works are divided into three main categories: Buddhism, Sanxingdui and stream-of-consciousness life-enlightening themes. The emergence of these three categories is mainly due to the fact that she has been studying Chinese and Western philosophies, and the Chinese Zen culture has greatly influenced her creations. It has been known that in order to use the brush to dig the essence of history and culture, presenting the cultural heritage, its strong local characteristics and distinctive masterpieces, Guo Ronghua has waited for decades waiting for the site of Sanxingdui and Jinsha, collecting lots of original information from the sites. She accurately expresses the true spirit of history with her unique art form. That’s also why her series of works on Sanxingdui are unique in their approach, exaggerated in shape, moving in color and mysterious in content, with intimate images that exude a strong local historical and cultural flavor. Guo’s Buddhist series draws on ancient ethnic colors such as Dunhuang frescoes, and uses modern abstract art expressions to express her own thoughts. Her works incorporated the essence of Chinese and Western philosophies and Zen culture into themselves, making them appear transcendent and Zen-like. In addition, the life perception subject matter of the stream of consciousness expresses objects that originate from the mind's image, and values the likeness of the gods rather than the likeness of the form. It fully expresses the painter's reverence for and perception of nature, history and life, as well as its moral meaning. One commentary points out that art never refuses to innovate. While for Guo, it is necessary to dare to explore and innovate. We believe that as her artistic style matures uniquely, she will create more and better works, and bring more surprises to everyone.(Article/ Lu Jianbo, Sichuan Art and Finance News)
